I know many of you are hoping to get back to Harmony Central soon... I keep finding myself going back there to check on it... and continue to walk away frustrated. Minimal communication (they're 'working on it'). No real explanation of the issue. No real timeline.
So... for what it's worth... I'm staying here for a while. The last thing I want to do is divide this place, but until it's fixed... for real... and accompanied with a communication that it is truly fixed, and hopefully an explanation, I'll be here... doing my thing.
I hope you guys stick with me here until we have a real solution over there.

I just checked into the old forum and I can assure you it's still hobbling with 2 broken legs. So I'm here until such time that we all can see it running smoothly, and hopefully with an explanation on why they don't care. And even then, this site may have been on the road for months by then, and be the better place to stay.

There is slow for me... again. Which is ashame because I really needed to grab my lyrics for Certain Company from there... and it took me a while to get there.

FWIW....just visited over there. Tried to post a reply to a thread and could not...
I like it here.
When they get it fixed I'll want to be both places. It's good to get our stuff out to the folks other than our core of strong writers. New folks are always showing up there....new blood is good, right?

If they truly get it fixed, we'll probably just shut this place down. But until then, let's make the most of it here.

I think staying here until HC is working is only sensible.
I understand that some of our songwriting community's more enthusiastic and energetic members feel personally burned by the lack of more positive results and lack of specific information on what's being done and when more positive results might be expected.
FWIW, it's my take on this that the whole enterprise, from GC on down, is hurting from profound mismanagement at the very top by Bain Capital, who seemingly only saw Guitar Center as a fat goose to cut open and look for golden eggs within. Certainly, such private equity firms are typically primarily focused on short term profit over long term growth.
I do feel like I have loyalty to the people who have tried to keep HC running, Craig Anderton, other administrators, and mods. As far as I know, while I would hope that some admins are paid, I don't believe there are any full time employees of HC. And, of course, most mods are, like me, unpaid volunteers. I also feel some loyalty to Musician's Friend who appear to have tried to accommodate our needs -- even as their own business has seen a big downturn, along with the rest of the industry.
But I don't necessarily expect HC members to share those loyalties.
As far as I'm concerned, it seems to me that your loyalties should be to each other and the venture of maintaining an institution that continues meeting the needs of the community you comprise. Where that community is hosted is, I think, somewhat peripheral. (And it's that sort of principle that explains why Craig A's own Sound, Stage and Studio forum is now in its third online venue in two decades or so.)
