WIP - Walk a Different Road

This is something I'm trying with a walking bassline :
I could use some suggestions on the lyric please.

Walk a different road

Opening instrumental x 2 measures

Verse 1:

Walking down the road one day with self-assured control
And pockets fat with dignity, I fell into a hole.

Verse 2:

Next week I went walking down that same familiar road
I fell in to that same old hole for another episode

Verse 3:

Now something full of nothing can hurt you just the same
At first I tried to tell myself there's someone else to blame.

Chorus 1:

A hole, a hole, a deep dark hole
That I just could not see
I fell into a deep dark hole
That I had dug for me

Verse 4:

The next time I went walking - avoiding a replay
I walked 'round that familiar hole and went upon my way.
